Overview

Banking is just the beginning of all this credit union offers its younger members. Baxter Credit Union wanted to refresh their home page with an update to their banking savings tool to engage better with customers and increase the number of services each customer could enroll in.

Goals

  1. Redesign the home page of the credit union to improve the value calculator customer experience and increase the number of services each member used

  2. Work with web development strategists to insure development was feasible and provide key stakeholders proof of concept to move project forward.

  3. Source and create icons using established brand guidelines and create each user state for the new tool.

Define & Develop

After meeting with my project manager, gaining insight to client needs, receiving an existing sell sheet that the icons and services department was using and reviewing the banking landscape, I surveyed interactivity for producing a new value calculator. I found coding to utilize a pie chart and finalized new icons and made sure colors were accessible. Working with my team we formed a plan to use sliders to allow members to choose which services were of value to them which populated the pie chart. Both a static state and active state were explored and the service options which were not chosen always remained visible in order to show members savings that could be gained. The design was refined, accessibility confirmed and the new icons were made pixel perfect.

Identify & Discover

The value calculator needed a refresh. The interactivity was limited with its end users and more options to save were not being utilized. Additional landing pages on the site also wanted to utilize the calculator, so versatility was critical. Key stakeholders wanted to have members contact credit union representatives to make sure a human connection could be established as a valuable tool to enroll members in multiple programs.

Deliver Solutions

After presenting to several key stakeholders from multiple departments, internal scrum teams including a project manger, digital strategist and web developer, I was able to find consensus on final layouts and move the project into development. The client was happy with the new refreshed value calculator and would be sharing it with multiple departments in order to engage with their members at multiple touch points.
